Built in time for the Barcelona Olympics in 1992, the Claris Hotel is a perfect resting place if you want to escape from the modern minimalism offered by than the other, newer hotels in Barcelona. The façade of the building is perfectly retained in its original form, while the inside sections are often glass-backed, flooding it with light and adding a fresher, newer feel to the 19th century spot that was once, incredibly, a private residence.

Formerly the Vedruna palace, the hotel now houses a permanent collection of ancient Egyptian art which, whilst an odd juxtaposition with the Andy Warhol dedicated restaurant and bar, gives this delightful hotel an edge that one would only find here in Barcelona.

Like all top establishments, the rooftop has been converted into an outdoor bar (also a restaurant in the summer months) with a fantastic swimming pool, solarium and gymnasium right next to it. All are open to the public and, having been around for 15 years now, “La Terraza del Claris” has become quite a hotspot for the well-known during the summer months. If you want to start your evening with cocktails here before heading out, a limousine service operates all year round for your convenience.
