A large part of the Hotel Casa Fuster’s tremendous appeal is the fusion of a perfectly preserved interior reflecting the original and very beautiful exterior of the building.
Formerly a family residence, the Casa Fuster’s narrow escape from conversion into the skyscraper home of a European gas company (averted by massive local demonstrations), makes it even more appreciated within Barcelona as an immensely impressive example of Catalan Modernism at its height.
Now a new, but very beautiful hotel, one would expect it to have been there for over a century. The façade is almost pure marble and, in order to retain the original style of the building, every detail in each room, even down to the wardrobe doors, is designed to match the exterior.
Whether having drinks on the rooftop or downstairs in the main bar (a chill out room remains open until 4am on weekends,) one can only feel seeped in Barcelona’s history. The Cafe Vienes was originally home to the upper crust of Barcelona when the city’s first cinema opened around the corner and now, as a fantastic cocktail bar, one can imagine the intellectuals of 1950’s society congregating for drinks there on a summer’s evening.
The rooms are truly luxurious and with views right down to the Ramblas, it’s perfectly located.
