Review
This peaceful residence is a hotel of two halves; rooms are filled with contemporary artworks from Georg Baselitz while an original breathtaking rococo ceiling can be found in the conference room. Overlooking the Spree, and halfway between Potsdamer Platz and Mitte, the hotel is something a of city-centre backwater.
Rooms are tasteful and modern, and guests are invited to choose between colour schemes: red, green, blue or aubergine. Of the 109 rooms, 10 art suites have a balcony and two a kitchen. Staff are helpful and conduct business at an efficient but relaxed pace.
The quirky hotel bar and restaurant is awash with Pop Art motifs, and although empty of an evening, it offers a refreshing start to the day. The older wing of the building is usually reserved for conference events, but it’s worth sneaking a look.
