Close to the boutiques and restaurants of Savignyplatz, this simple but smart hotel enjoys a pleasant location.
Initially built in 1965, it was last renovated in 1994. Lagging considerably in the design stakes, rooms are basic – you could be in your aunt’s spic-and-span guest room instead of a downtown hotel.
Much better are the two suites, known as the Tuscan and Colonial. As their names suggest, both are thematically designed and individually hand crafted. Instantly homely, they are perfect for longer stays and come with Bang & Olufsen DVD TVs.
Corridors are wide, spacious and flooded with natural light. Guests respect each other’s privacy and the place always feels pleasantly empty.
Downstairs, the Cassambalis House restaurant is filled with artworks and curios – all collected by the Greek owner.
