Review

Bobo (standing for ‘Bohemian Bourgeois’) is indeed suited to the creative types among us, but the design is also a bit of a cheeky monkey since it’s stylish and understated enough to attract the insanely affluent urban traveller as well as the bourgeois, humdrum punter.

In addition, Bobo’s discreet Palermo Viejo location on Guatemala street is just right for launching an assault on Buenos Aires’ hip shopping, culinary and bar scene, all within walking-distance.

With a highly acclaimed restaurant and a young, sexy vibe, this hotel only lacks a swimming pool. But you wouldn’t come here to tread water anyway. On arrival, Belen, the manager, will escort you up to one of the seven rooms in the metallic warehouse lift.

The rooms are simple, but spiced up with individual themes. The newspaper room, which sports ‘tabloid paper’ pillows and curtains, makes for interesting bedtime reading. The loft-styled penthouse boasts a jacuzzi – with room for two – and a domino set. The hotel’s price range and location attract young, affluent couples as well as the discerningly rich who like to stay under the radar.
