Tignes will never win prizes for architectural elegance - but no one comes here for that sort of sightseeing. The attraction of Tignes, which is on the same ski pass as neighbouring and more upmarket Val d'Isere, is the varied ski terrain - both on- and off-piste. While the hotels, restaurants and shops aren't on the same stylish scale as many other ski resorts, moves are afoot to to upgrade its venues. We, for one, can't wait to see the improvements.
