This five-star high-rise is part of an Italian/Portuguese chain and caters mainly for business customers. Towering above the Amoreiras shopping mall and a busy dual carriageway, it’s not exactly pedestrian-friendly and is probably best reached by car.
That said, all 263 rooms are extremely comfortable and the amenities good. The corner suites on higher floors command fantastic views of the city, with wall-to-wall windows on all sides. Guests staying in the tower rooms have access to a VIP lounge and limited fitness facilities, and massages are also available.
The opulent, mock 18th-century décor is at times stomach-churning, but at least distracts from a legion of suits armed with laptops. Great if you’re looking for a city centre hotel slightly off the main drag, and the outdoor restaurant terrace is perfect for a summer’s evening.
