The Soho Hotel

4 Richmond Mews, W1 , Central London

The Soho Hotel

With 91 rooms the Soho Hotel is considerably larger than its Charlotte Street and Covent Garden siblings. Purpose built, it's not surprising the Kemp's wanted to take advantage of this prime Soho location. Like its siblings the hotel attracts an amazingly hip media drawn to 'noughties' understated glamour and comfort.

The five-star Soho was opened to much fanfare in autumn 2005 by Tim and Kit Kemp, the glamorous hoteliers fast monopolizing the industry in London. Although their largest offering (with 91 rooms), it still has a boutique feel thanks to warm and witty pastels and homely florals. Despite being in the centre of Soho, the hotel is set back in a quiet cul-de-sac. The ground-floor drawing rooms and library offer comfort and seclusion, while the bar/restaurant, Refuel, is packed with dressed-down media types. Purpose-built on the site of a former car park, rooms are well proportioned and suffused with light; large granite and oak bathrooms boast generous baskets of products from English perfumer Miller Harris. Unsurprisingly, Soho’s film crowd have embraced the hotel and Hollywood executives have taken to block-booking the six top-floor apartments – the £2,500-a-night Terrace Suite, with views as far as Canary Wharf, was lauded as the world’s most glamorous hotel suite.
