Introduced by two distinctively quirky mud towers at the side of a raw dirt track in La Palmeraie, Les Deux Tours is one of Marrakech’s most well-known properties. It was designed by the one and only Charles Boccara, and nowhere is his imaginative flair more evident than in this ‘grand old dame’.
Consisting of a network of 12 standard rooms, 11 superior rooms and five suites in six private villas, interspersed with serene reflective pools, ponds and colourful gardens, it remains a beguiling paradise despite – or perhaps because of – its slightly faded charm. None of the rooms has a television, a fact that doubtless adds to the rustic appeal, and all are equipped with antique furnishings, impeccably designed bathrooms and minimalist salons which conjure up a feeling of traditional living while ensuring an atmosphere of gentle repose.
Villas have their own private gardens and pools, and the classy, discreet service completes the stunning overall ambience. Recently a new bar and salon have been added to maintain the feeling of exclusivity and intimacy.
