Riad Kniza

34 Derb l'Hotel, Bab Doukala, Medina North

Riad Kniza

Riad Kniza is a traditional building restored in the style of a boutique Moroccan palace. The decor and ambience are 100% Moroccan, complete with gorgeous fireplaces, traditional furniture and museum-quality antiques. It's impeccably done; not too over the top, not too understated, leaning just far enough towards the corporate in the rooms (three deluxe, three royal suites, a duplex suite) to make them very amenable to business travellers as well as holiday-makers looking for a genuine Moroccan experience.

Review

Riad Kniza, marketed as an upscale luxury Hotel de Charme, is a traditional building restored by one Mr Bouskri, a man whose impressive 35 years working as a tour guide has included giving personal tours to the likes of Richard Nixon, Kofi Anan and Brad Pitt. Given Bouskri’s slick interpersonal skills, it’s no wonder that Kniza prides itself on its hospitality, not to mention its home-from-home atmosphere – no small feat in a place that’s kitted out like a mini palace.

The styling and décor is 100% Moroccan, with gorgeous fireplaces, traditional furniture and museum-quality antiques (contributed by Mrs Bousri, who owns one of the most renowned antique shops in the city). It’s impeccably done – not too over the top, not too understated – and leans just far enough towards the corporate in the rooms (three deluxe, three royal suites, a duplex suite) to make them very amenable to business travellers as well as holiday-makers looking for a genuine Moroccan experience.

Each room has satellite TV, there is wireless internet available and the home cooking – traditional Moroccan, natch – is some of the best in town.
