Review
Compact and immaculately presented, Riad W is a brand-spanking new addition to Marrakech’s glut of riads. Managed by hospitable Frenchwoman Elsa, W consists of just four rooms, each one a different shape, style and price. Although Elsa doesn’t have a background in interior design, she has great taste and a way of making spaces feel contemporary yet homely: low wooden tables with woollen seat covers, modern plastic chairs in traditional courtyard spaces; L-shaped pool; elongated brick fireplaces.
The chic-cum-cosy aesthetic extends to all the rooms, where large beds rest on raised floors, fireplaces hug the walls and the shower-rooms are adorable. The décor is smart and new throughout, and always pleasing to the eye; and although the smallest room is very small, it is correspondingly priced. The other rooms are all decent sizes, and the biggest one has a large roof window for extra light.
All in all, W offers unbeatable contemporary charm at very decent prices.
