Astor Hotel

956 Washington Avenue, South Beach South

Astor Hotel

A classic Art Deco South Beach hotel on Washington Avenue, the Hotel Astor is one of the more understated hotels in Miami, to the extent that it is almost arrogant. The Tuesday party here means it know's it has the pulling power, but the decor also oozes style , which is why the Astor will be popular for a long while.

The Astor Hotel is a stop on South Beach’s Art Deco bus tour. Designed by architect T. Hunter Henderson in 1936 and renovated in 1997 and 2002, the Astor is a stylish hotel that loves to show off on Tuesdays by hosting a party at the hip Metro bar beside its lobby.

Next to the Chelsea on Washington Avenue, the Astor has given the road a bit of a face-lift with a neatly kept hedgerow and garden in front of the building’s coral stone façade. The lobby’s marble flooring and solid square wooden table ooze taste, and the 40 rooms, standard for a building of this period, are made to look inviting with blond oak wood headboards and beds dressed in Frette cotton sheets.

The staff are helpful and devoted to ensuring the privacy of ‘special’ clients. The Astor is the most stylish of the boutique hotels in Miami, and it takes its image very seriously.
