The Chelsea is popular with young professionals, including a loyal set of up-and-coming models, which is probably why the management has named the lobby’s bar, the ‘Eye Candy Bar’.
The feng-shui inspired rooms with bamboo floors and amber lighting are basic but clean, with large and comfortable beds. The Chelsea is not luxurious – it’s economical – but stylish enough to attract a handsome crowd that likes to party. The terrace is where you sip coffee in the morning at the same futuristic, metallic tables where you had your first sake the night before.
Like the Catalina, Mercury and Whitelaw in the South Beach Group, guests enjoy free drinks for an hour in the evenings, as well as free rides to and from the airport and the deal-clinching complimentary yoga classes. The Chelsea is next door to the Astor Hotel, whose Metro Bar gets packed on a Tuesday.
