Four Seasons

Brickell Avenue, Downtown

Four Seasons

Downtown is for businessmen and wealthy tourists who are prepared to be driven to and from South Beach whenever they want to party. The Four Seasons is elegant enough to keep you downtown, but unless you are in Miami purely on business, you might be jealous of those over the causeway in the Mandarin Oriental. It's a 70 floor mama of a building in which you “get” what you expected before you passed the giant Buddha-like statues in the building's main lobby. A safe option.

With 70 floors, the Four Seasons hotel and Towers building is the tallest on the Miami skyline and is visible from South Beach. Many of the Four Seasons’ guests are on business, but at weekends a good proportion book in on vacation. Like the Ritz Carlton, guests know pretty much what to expect – except at this Four Seasons, giant Buddha-like statues stand in the building’s main lobby as well as in the hotel’s lobby, alongside paintings of Latin American artists.

The rooms all include king-size beds, as one would expect, but also feature padded windowsills so that guests can look over Biscayne Bay and beyond in comfort. There are 221 rooms, including 39 suites in the hotel, and the pool area occupies two acres in which the guests can recline and sip on a cocktail.

The resident Italian restaurant Acqua is well rated, but the biggest plus point for this hotel is the Bahia Bar, which lures in the fashionable crowd and gives a predominately business-like atmosphere a kick up the ass.
