Built on Brickell Key for over $100 million, the Mandarin Oriental is a luxurious 44-acre island overlooking Miami’s financial district. Not just a hotel, the Mandarin Oriental has added a 20,000-foot white sand beach club, complete with beds adorned with white cushions and canopies, beach butlers and beachside cabana treatments – as if the three-storey spa wasn’t enough.
The rooms, many of which have balconies overlooking the water, were designed by Hirsch Bedner & Associates, and feature high ceilings, king-size beds and opulent Spanish marble bathrooms with separate bath tubs and showers. Downstairs, the Azul restaurant and the Martini bar (with over 100 different Martinis) are both popular with Miami’s hip scene, so guests could happily stay at the hotel for a week without leaving the island.
South Beach’s lounges are just a 20-minute drive away, but the Mandarin’s own take on the party scene kicks into action on a Friday night and is a good starting-point.
