Another hotel that gets top marks for style is the Sagamore. A cross between an art gallery and a hotel, the Sagamore oozes quality, but, unlike the Delano or the Shore Club, does not feel the need to tell people about it. Instead they like to show art, and lots of it.
The Sagamore boasts the largest contemporary art collection of all the hotels on the Beach, displayed all the public areas, including the lobby (where metallic sculptures made out of dustbins greet guests). Built in 1948 by local architect Albert Anis, but restored in 2001, the Sagamore is an example of post-modern Miami architecture that has strayed slightly from the area’s traditional Art Deco style.
The hotel houses 93 rooms – or suites, to be more accurate. Each has its own kitchen, is equipped with functional, modernist furniture, and has oversized windows. Outside guests can enjoy the L-shaped pool framed by a well-kept lawn and an efficient team of waiters who attend to your every need.
