While most reports will tell you that The Shore Club is the hottest hotel on the beach, approach Ian Schrager’s latest Miami masterpiece with caution.

Yes, the Shore Club does have two top-class restaurants in Nobu and Ago; the resident Sky Bar attracts a large number of luscious party animals; the pool areas (one is Olympic-sized and the other is smaller but more exclusive) are flanked with idyllic den areas.

There is an ocean-side bungalow designed for Lenny Kravitz, with its own gated pool. The lobby’s flowing white curtains lit up around the pillars are very seductive; the staff look good in their white outfits; and the 6,000 square foot, three-storey penthouse is idyllic.

But with 322 rooms and 70 suites (designed by British architect David Copperfield), and an additional mass of outsiders looking to eat at the restaurants and party at the Sky Bar (which produces an unending loud chorus of up-to-the-minute beats), understand that the Shore Club is not a hotel from which guests leave as refreshed as they would like to. A relaxing weekend away the Shore Club is not.
