The luxurious four-star Anderson, renovated in 2004 by the Starhotels chain, is styled to within an inch of its life like a Wallpaper* bachelor pad.
The look is super-sleek, with black lacquered furniture, blood red carpets, zebra skins, exotic flowers and a B&O entertainment system, and in the ‘library’, a statement fireplace and untouched recherché books. The restaurant/bar, ‘Black’, is predictably deep black and deeply chic. Its 106 rooms are equally modern and variously decorated in cream marble, chrome, wenge wood, leather panelling and black-and-white photography; mod-cons stretch to 6-inch TV monitors in every bathroom.
Its proximity to the Stazione Centrale, ample conference facilities and fitness room attract a (well-groomed) business clientele, accessorized with all the latest executive toys. The Anderson, somewhere in between cool and cold, gives the inside track to a Milanese idiosyncrasy: temptingly fashionable yet haughty and affected.
