The Baltschug quite definitely falls into the award-winning deluxe first-class category, being managed by the Kempinski group. Its unique selling-point is its location on the south side of the Moscow River in Zamoskvorechie, commanding spectacular views of the Kremlin, Red Square and St Basil’s Cathedral, breathtaking both during the long white summer nights and during the winter, when the river is frozen.
The 1898 faÁade hides a hotel of 232 rooms and suites, all stylishly decorated, and built around a daylight-flooded atrium – many enjoying views of the Moscow River. If you don’t fancy swimming in the river, and we don’t recommend it, there’s a pool.
The service is as impeccable as you’d expect, and this is the only Moscow hotel to be included in the ‘Leading Hotels of the World’ portfolio, making it undoubtedly one of the best on offer in town.
