Another large, reliable and safe hotel, the Grand Hotel offers every modern amenity a guest could need, despite being built in 1897 – its Art Nouveau facade blends in well with the neighbouring buildings on Tverskaya.
Perfectly located, guests can take advantage of the excellent shopping as well as the many fine restaurants and bars nearby.
The rooms are typically Marriott, inevitably corporate but clean, with efficient and friendly staff on hand. The Atrium roof-top bar has views all the way down Tverskaya – and the Russian Cellar is a popular restaurant serving a wide selection of native Russian food. But there is always something a little sterile about eating in hotel restaurants, so why not try the interesting Gorky Restaurant housed in the original Ministry of Trade and Economic Development around the corner (see Eat)?
