The Savoy first opened in 1912 and is one of the oldest, most stylish small hotels in the centre of Moscow; it’s situated just off the popular shopping street of Kuznetsky Most, within walking distance of the Bolshoi Theatre and Red Square.
One of the State’s architectural treasures, it has recently been completely refurbished and renovated. The 70 rooms are now more spacious, with high ceilings, boasting new updated beds with orthopaedic mattresses and elegant marble bathrooms. The corridors display a collection of Russian art, adding to the rich history of the hotel.
The whole atmosphere is one of a pre-revolutionary aristocratic gentleman’s club with all the modern amenities of today, including a swimming pool and mini-spa centre. The Savoy makes for an intimate downtown residence, close to plenty of good restaurants including Biskvit (see Eat) and Vogue Cafe (see Drink).
