Review

Architect and designer Bruno Borrione, Philippe Starck’s right-hand man, is responsible for the mature yet funky look of this small boutique hotel.

The lounge is panelled in slick veneer, with matching tables and inviting brown armchairs, and an electric pebble-lined fireplace warms the space up in winter. The grey walls of the lobby and sober tones of the bedrooms are in complete contrast with the bright colours used for the communal spaces.

The smallish bedrooms are plastered in Cole & Sons ‘The Woods’ wallpaper, while the bathrooms are screened off by a sheet of glass (for the more demure a lush velour curtain can conceal your modesty). Large, elegant white leather headboards, designer wastepaper bins and state-of-the-art plasma TVs enhance the bedrooms. The attention to detail doesn’t stop there: the coat-hangers are silk-padded, the key-rings customized, and the breakfast pastries freshly made in the best bakery in Paris.

The hotel is ideally suited for shopaholics, since it’s literally round the corner from Le Bon Marché; and for the most serious shoppers a VIP check-in/check-out service is available in collaboration with the airport, so you can spend those precious extra minutes finishing your shopping instead of queueing at Departures.
