Keep your shades on – and not just to blend in with the scene – the focal point of this hotel is a bright, glass-roofed atrium fitted with all-white leather sofas and cup chairs; the only bit of warmth comes from the slick, wall-stretched fireplace.
All 52 rooms are luminous, too, with white walls and carpets, which can be differentiated only by the Pop Art prints on the wall. This flash of brightness is designed to contrast with the dimly lit corridors, down which you have to feel your way. This is the hotel’s sensuous touch – there’s no fumbling for keys here, just a fingerprint ID system that allows you access to your room – which allows for other sorts of fumbling in the dark passages.
That’s unless you’re here on their ‘Love&Luxe’ package and confined to the honeymoon suite, which boasts its own rooftop terrace with heated pool; here you can savour the complimentary champagne and caviar and stay in bed for the best part of the next day (you get a privileged 4pm checkout). But if you’ve whiled away the hours in the funky bar instead, rejuvenate yourself in the spa before heading out to do it all over again.
