With its creamy French limestone and mahogany interior, and masculine-scented corridors (the perfume was specially concocted for the hotel by Blaise Mautin), staying in the Park Hyatt Vendôme is like staying in a luxury cigar box. This is no bad thing, just an acquired taste, which has been put together by architect Ed Tuttle.
The rooms mirror the elegance of the hotel’s communal areas, and, of course, the emphasis is on superior quality (Bang & Olufsen entertainment systems). The hotel boasts its own extensive permanent art collection and has commissioned sculptress Roseline Granet to create signature figurine light fittings and door handles.
The courtyard, where one can sip summer aperitifs, is transformed into a winter sculpture garden. Housed within five converted Haussmann buildings, the Vendôme is the residence du choix for elegantly sophisticated business travellers, who are lost without round-the-clock room service and an exclusive spa.
