Born in 1911, facelift in 2000. The row of Lamborghinis, Bentleys and Ferraris parked outside (many with Arab state or Swiss number plates) give away the clientele. This comes as no surprise, as the hotel is situated on Paris’ glamorous avenue Montaigne, where one can shop at Christian Dior, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, et al.
Interior designers Bettina Mortemard and Marie-José Pommereau have completely refurbished the hotel in opulent, modern elegance: gold and bronze finishes, silky curtains, rich fabrics, velvet furnishings and huge chandeliers (all in the best possible taste).
Most of the 188 rooms and suites, which overlook avenue Montaigne, the Eiffel Tower or the hotel’s beautiful courtyard, are decorated in rich Louis XVI and Regency style, while two floors are Art Deco. The Royal Suite is the largest suite in Paris: not only does it have its own steam room and jacuzzis, but also a mini-bar for cosmetics and numerous plasma TVs hidden behind mirrors. The mahogany-panelled fitness centre offers a personal trainer, massage and shiatsu treatments.
The hotel restaurant, headed by legendary chef Alain Ducasse, as well as The Bar and the tea salon La Galerie des Goblins, are all worthy of separate mention.
