If you need a minimalist moment away from the opulence of the Opéra and the frou-frou bustle of the rue Saint-Honoré, then this is the place for you – a quiet, understated hotel, done up in a classic contemporary style, à la Armani.
The communal areas are warm and inviting: the lounge has a low, comfortable settee with similar armchairs, a cluster of tasteful pictures, refined dark walnut furniture and parquet floors. The 40 rooms and three junior suites are dominated by beds with high brown headboards and are more sombre in colour, perhaps even a little bland.
Thérèse’s strength is in its location – in the heart of the Rive Droite, walking-distance from the place Vendôme, Opéra and Louvre. It also feels far from the madding crowd, tucked away in a narrow side street down which traffic rarely flows.
