Trocadero Dokhan’s

117 rue Lauriston, Champs-Élysées & Trocadéro

Trocadero Dokhan’s

Classic elegance, but not uptight or pretentious - the décor betrays a sense of humour, illustrated by the lift, which is a converted Louis Vuitton travelling trunk, and the fashionable pastel aesthetic in the bar, which gives old-style glamour a modern twist.

This 19th-century building oozes sophistication. Nothing has been left untouched by famous interior designer Frédéric Méchiche, from the hand-made silk curtains to painted wallpaper and carpets, giving the classic look a subtle contemporary twist. The lounge features original artworks by Picasso and Matisse, and a cosy fireplace. The lift is made out of a 1930s Louis Vuitton trunk, giving a whole new meaning to travel.

There are 45 rooms and four suites that reach the heights of comfort and discretion, each one unique in form and decoration, but refined and elegant. La Suite Eiffel (named after its view) is perched at the top of the building – overlooking the rooftops of Paris, and encapsulating the spirit of the city.

Appropriately for a hotel that’s in a class of its own, it has the only Champagne Bar in Paris, and every Thursday from 6.30pm until 8.30pm you can attend a tasting of vintages (both major and more obscure). The bar is a turquoise wood-panelled room, decorated with gold leaf and oil paintings, both of which shimmer at night when the room is illuminated by an uncountable number of candles.

It’s no wonder that Mr Armani books the Trocadéro Dokhan entirely for himself and his entourage each Fashion Week – the hotel is just like a carefully put together haute couture dress.
