Jacques Garcia designed this tasteful and tiny hotel (10 rooms), which sits on a picturesque cobblestoned street in between the animated André des Arts, Saint-Michel and the Seine.
The rooms are decorated with fashionable ‘English’ wallpaper (bold colours and prints), silk curtains, striped upholstery and carpets. Gracious low lighting (cellulite concealing) in the black slate bathrooms are offset by elegant white orchids. Breakfast is served in the entrance lobby, an opulent oriental 19th–century amalgam of black and gold cornicing, neo-classical armchairs and deep red velvet soft furnishings.
The owners also run the 15th-century Résidence des Arts opposite, which in the summer of 2006 underwent extensive refurbishment to match Villa d’Estrées in style and quality, adding a further 11 rooms as well as a brasserie and restaurant. The only danger in staying here is you may never want to leave.
