987 is one of the newer spots in Prague, and goes some way towards representing the new designer face of the city’s accommodation scene. Located in a quiet area at the edge of the city centre (a 10-minute stroll will take you to Wenceslas Square), this hotel is unapologetically trendy.
Spread over five floors, 987 has 80 rooms – all lovingly manicured with natty orange lights glowing gently outside, flat screens, rain showers and smart, modern furnishings inside. While some boutique hotels are cool to the point of glacial, 987’s warmth is immediately apparent thanks to friendly staff, an inviting decorative style – and, of course, the wonderful fireplace in the pleasant reception lounge.
That first impression is carried with you into the orange glass lift that whooshes you up to your reasonably sized and impeccably clean room. While the hotel offers a rather swish meeting room for business travellers, it’s worth being aware that there’s no real restaurant (just a snazzy snack bar, where breakfast is served), gym or fitness centre.
