A welcome addition to the city's hotel scene, 987 is an elegant amalgam of old and new. From the Phillipe Starck furniture and interactive light displays in the guest's rooms the hotel has looked to spice up the interior. However, such modernity can leave such an historical building rather flat and soulless, and unfortunately this is the case here.

Behind the railway station towards the top end of Wenceslas Square, 987 is ideally placed to explore much of the the Old Town and the New Town, and especially handy for opera lovers, the State Opera is less than a five minute walk away. The quieter, more residential areas of Zizkov and Vinohrady are a welcome change from the commercial hustle and bustle of tourists in the centre, with a burgeoning bar and restaurant scene - these districts give a more balanced view of the city away from the cobbled streets of the Old Town.
