Looking for a mix of authentic Prague history and upmarket luxury? The Pachtuv Palace, once a genuine palace owned by the Pachta family, could be a sterling option. The front of the building dates back 150 years, while other sections are twice as old. Situated at the end of Karolíny Svetlé, just steps away from Charles Bridge and directly opposite the wonderful Bellevue restaurant (see Eat), this MaMaison property offers 50 apartments/rooms and an interior designed by Jane Wilson (of London’s Dorchester fame).
The place exudes a regal aura, echoed by antique wooden beams, frescos, vaulted chapel ceilings, sculptures and original fireplaces. The apartments are richly decorated with a blend of antique and modern furnishings, rugs and paintings, while the ‘exceptional apartments’ and honeymoon suite cater for even more refined/expensive tastes.
