A classic Art Nouveau hotel in the centre of Prague, Paríz is probably the most upmarket in town. Built in 1904 next to the Municipal House – another grand Art Nouveau edifice – the hotel has retained its turn-of-the- century elegance even through subsequent renovations and modernizations.
After registering in the classic secese lobby, follow the correspondingly sinuous banister up to comfortable, high-ceilinged rooms that incorporate modern furnishings with an Art Nouveau twist (soft furnishings and carpets are surprisingly anonymous), and clean, crisp bathrooms covered in French cobalt and white tiles. If you feel like splashing out, the Royal Tower Suite is extremely luxurious; planned like a loft apartment with sympathetically designed furniture, it is capped by fabulous 360° views of the city.
The restaurant, bar and lobby exude an aura of resplendent grandeur, and the hotel has all the facilities that you might expect or need, including a Wellness and Spa Centre. The restaurant, Sarah Bernhardt, offers very good cuisine, and the Café de Paríz is a great place for a spot of afternoon tea – which, of course, you will pay for handsomely.
