A firm favourite with Prague’s film industry, this 16-room hotel around the corner from Charles Bridge (Malá Strana side) often becomes home to visiting actors and directors for the duration of their shoot. Each of the apartment-style suites is traditionally furnished, but unlike other ‘traditional’ establishments, these are slightly more refined.
One of the most interesting suites, the Arcimboldo (named after the famous 16th-century painter), houses the hotel’s only four-poster bed and is the romantic room of choice. Standard features such as laundry and room service are available, but although there is none of the mod-cons that most other high-end hotels offer, the staff’s assistance and attention to detail are effortlessly precise, leaving the impulse to relax overwhelming.
On the ground floor, the newly refurbished Alchemy restaurant is a welcome boon, making this an excellent choice for families, movie aficionados or anyone wanting a slightly more independent experience.
UPDATE:
Residence Nosticova has been closed for refurbishment. it will reopen on 14th July 2008, renamed the Alchymist Residence Nosticova. it now has 16 rooms and suites in four categories - 2 gothic deluxe rooms, 4 deluxe rooms, 8 junior suites and 4 royal suites.
