U Pava has an old fashioned opulence ingrained into its dark wood panelling, painted ceilings, antique furniture and rich, dark textiles. A subdued lighting scheme adds a romantic ambience to proceedings and the clientele reflect this, often slightly older, celebrating a special weekend away. While quietly tucked away its also close to some of the city's restaurants.

Mala Strana, or the Lesser Quarter, sits beneath the Castle towards the river bank and is normally associated with the crowds of tourists who pour, in a seemingly endless stream, up the Royal Way from the Charles Bridge to the Castle above, stopping only briefly to paw some mawkish memorabilia. U Pava has escaped down a side street and manages to evade the masses tramping past. Across the little square the hotel is situated on is the wonderful Hergetova Cihelna, all things to all men - bar, restaurant and Kafka Museum.
