Nestled at the base of the Castle walls on Nerudova street (part of the Royal Way), U Zlatého Kola lends a sense of substance and style to the area, much like its neighbour, the Neruda.
With only 17 rooms behind its impressive baroque façade, U Zlatého Kola takes a gourmet rather than gourmand approach to space, ensuring that this town house exudes a decent aura of room and privacy. The interior is a successful amalgamation of modern and traditional styles, where fresh designer furnishings work with traditional painted ceilings.
Rooms boast contemporary bedrooms, resplendent with arty photographs and impressive black-and-white tiled bathrooms; the space of the upper floors looks out towards the Castle walls and St Vitus’ Cathedral, or across to the Petrˇin tower and surrounding park.
Other hidden charms include a garden at the top of the house, a glass balcony look-out point and a glass box lift. The stylish little café downstairs, Arcadia, sells ridiculously rich hot chocolates and proper Italian coffee. U Zlatého Kola is clearly a boutique hotel worthy of the title.
