Abitart

Via P. Matteucci 10, Ostiense , Rome

Abitart

Maybe it's too soon to make a noise about this gritty part of town, but it does seem to be home to some of the city's best nightlife. While staying at the stylish Abitart hotel, you'll be close to all this, as well as the train to the beach (from Piramide) for a hungover escape the next morning. Excellent bar and restaurant attached.

Abitart is a little removed from the centre of town (behind the Pyramid on the Via Ostiense), but for those who have already seen the sights and want to explore a cool, up-and-coming part of town, it might be an interesting choice.

The theme here, unsurprisingly, is art. Designed for the cognoscenti, rooms are inspired by different artists and movements, including Picasso, Keith Haring and intellectual Russian Deconstructivism.

The adjoining restaurant, Estrobar, is a trendy cocktail hotspot. Exuberantly decorated with contemporary paintings, it’s populated by a mostly Roman clientele, chowing down on the elusive (in Rome) pizza napoletana.
