Forty Seven

This is a particularly handsome choice of hotel, near the Ghetto and the dreamy Taverna degli Amici, with electric sunsets and cocktails over caput mundi from the roof terrace.

Located just along from the Bocca della Verita (the famous ‘Mouth of Truth’), tucked behind the Campidoglio, Forty Seven’s position on a busy traffic artery may seem a little uncomfortable. But with easy access to Trastevere and Testaccio and the Centro just a 10-minute walk, this hotel – housed in a former Fascist building – is well worth considering.

Chic yet unassuming, it has a freshness that some of the city’s design-conscious establishments lack. The décor, wood and marble, with fairly masculine styling softened by injections of colourful flowers, make a clean break from the chintz without going too far in the minimalist direction.

Each of the five floors pays tribute to a different 20th-century Italian artist, from Modigliani to Umberto Mastroianni and Piero Guccione. Take in the gorgeous sunsets over a cocktail and dinner at the restaurant Circus in the roof garden.

Special offer for Hg2 Guests who book through Hg2 will receive a free drink in the bar. You will be given a voucher on arrival and can have the drink whenever you choose during your stay.

The hotel should be aware that you have booked through Hg2, but as always, recommend that you have a copy of your booking confirmation with you.
