When filmstars are in town they make a beeline for the Hotel de Russie, so expect a constant herd of paparazzi waiting to pounce as the limousines roll by.
Part of the Rocco Forte hotel group, it’s a far cry from the cloying chintz and gilt of other luxury hotels and its dramatic location on the corner of Piazza del Popolo has cemented its status as one of Rome’s most popular hotels. Rooms are a polished affair with 1930s-style décor, luxurious linens and pretty mosaic-tiled bathrooms.
The courtyard overlooking sweeping terraces and verdant gardens is a cool haven at anytime of day, and a precious spot for an upper-crust cocktail (see Drink).
