This unpretentious guest house is a welcome addition to Trastevere, where accommodation is scarce. The five simple rooms all face onto a communal internal courtyard, which was once the cloister of the ancient convent of Santa Chiara, bedecked with fresh-smelling herbs and plants.
It may feel a little Spartan compared with other Roman hotels but its location more than compensates. The rooms are cosy, clean and crisp, and service is warm and helpful. Good for the summer months and for those who want to get on with doing their own thing, even if that just means pootling around Trastevere drinking cappuccinos all day.
