Lady Hamilton Hotel

Storkyrkobrinken 5, GamlaStan

Lady Hamilton Hotel

A perfect location for people who prefer their experience of Scandinavia to be a little more old-fashioned. This Gamla Stan hotel is packed with antiques and even has antique shops for neighbours. Definitely not for fans of minimalism.

Named after the mistress of a British naval hero, the Lady Hamilton is one of three Old Town hotels owned by the Bengtsson family (the others being the Lord Nelson Hotel and the Victory). All these hotels ooze traditional charm and are full to overflowing with model ships, compasses, naval antiques, painted chests, grandfather clocks, crystal lighting, oriental carpets and bedrooms crammed with all sorts of trinkets and knick-knacks. As you can imagine, none of these hotels are the place for fans of Swedish minimalism. However, the cheerfully cluttered interiors seem to be in keeping with the spirit of Gamla Stan, though be aware that they are on streets that can be clogged with pedestrians. The Lady Hamilton has 34 rooms named after wildflowers and a 14th-century well in the basement.

Hg2 Special Offer

Are we alone in always rather coveting those lovely, fluffy bathrobes in hotels? If you're of a like mind then you are going to love the Lady Hamilton's special offer. Book into the hotel through Hg2.com and receive a free bathrobe and a free drink in the bar. You might want to relinquish the former before indulging in the latter - just a thought!

The hotel should be aware that your booking has come from Hg2, but it's always a good idea to have a copy of your booking confirmation just in case.
