A brand new hotel built on the site of one of Tallinn’s historic towers and an ancient horse mill, facing the Baltic from the northern ramparts of the Old Town. This canary-yellow building looks like the façade of a super-rich merchant’s house.
Inside, however, the entrepreneur behind Tallinn’s Meriton Grand, Alexander Kofkin, has gone for an affordable offering – two- to three-star quality at decent prices in an excellent location. Rooms are simple but neat, with exposed stone in some creating a lived-in feel. With one floor for non-smokers, three rooms for guests suffering from allergies and one for the disabled, the Meriton is going for a demanding, cost-conscious market.
