An attractive, mint-green, neo-classical building on a busy road about 10 minutes from the Old Town, the Mihkli has recently graduated to three-star status, in recognition of 11 years of reasonably priced, good-quality service. The hotel has made a virtue of its less convenient location, drawing a more cost-conscious clientelle still sensitive to quality.
Rooms are elegant and simple, decorated in basic colours with wood-tiled floors. Guests enjoy 24-hour free internet access downstairs and can treat themselves to a morning sauna which is included in the price of the room (unusual in Tallinn hotels).
Owned by two Estonians and three Russians, Mihkli attracts mainly tourists. The restaurant offers live music events to keep things buzzing. Look out for the funky warped-glass windows at the end of each corridor.
