This vast four-star flagship of the Reval group, which started life in 1997 before expanding to become the Baltic’s major hotel chain, feels something like an airport terminal on first arrival. Not surprising when you consider the range of services on offer: the hotel has its own florist and all-night café as well as health club, medical centre, swimming pool and bar – downstairs you can even find an English pub and a nightclub.
With a lobby redesigned in 2003 in fashionable black and browns, the reception feels modern and luxurious. Upstairs many of the 390 rooms are older and more basic, with simple, functional décor. With fewer business customers than most, the Olümpia has become a tourist haven, although it is a walk to old Tallinn. Compensate for your location with a spectacular group jacuzzi and sauna on the 26th floor offering an incredible view of the city – it’s available for group hire and ideal for small parties.
