There is an impressive range of things to do in London. 'When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life' - so goes the now cliched quote of 18th-century writer Samuel Johnson. And like any respectable cliche, it's entirely true - unless you've lost the will to live, it's impossible to be bored in the capital. Indeed, in a time when many are seeking rather more meaningful memories than beaches and binge-drinking, inventive and thoughtful entertainment is flourishing (see, in particular, our new section, Academic Amusements). Distractions range from the conventional to the quirky to the extreme - from de-stressing spas to a swim in frozen waters, from a walking tour with a London architect to the Chap Olympiad's Hop, Skip and G&T race, from 'Meet the Monkeys' at London Zoo to learning the trapeze at circus school.
