French Open

Tennis stars and fans alike descend on the Roland Garros stadium in the Bois du Boulogne for the second Grand Slam tournament of the tennis season. Played on clay rather than grass, it the French Open is viewed as the second most prestigious competition in the world (after Wimbledon, of course).

Where to stay:

There are some lovely hotels within easy reach of the Bois du Boulogne. The wonderfully atmospheric Raphael and supremely chic Trocadero Dokan's are pretty close. Fans of modern design should try the lovely L'Hôtel des Sers where you can relax after a hard day of spectating with a massage and aromatherapy bath in your room.

What's on:

The French Open (obviously!). Please note that the 2008 dates have not been confirmed yet, the ones shown above are our guesstimates. For more information and tickets, please see the French Open website.
